Faculty Member, Breast Imaging

The Department of Radiology has an opening for afull-time faculty member in the Breast Imaging Section. This is aterrific opportunity to join a highly progressive department and institution,on a continually expanding medical campus, in one of the best places to live inthe United States.
The Breast Section is integrated in the multidisciplinary DianeO'Connor Thompson Breast Center, which is part of an NCI-designatedcomprehensive cancer center. The Breast Center provides consultation servicesand specialized breast cancer care for a large portion of Colorado and thesurrounding states, which means second-opinion breast imaging consultation is asignificant portion of our practice. There are multiple weeklymultidisciplinary breast cancer conferences for which support is provided byour service. Furthermore, consultationswith breast center patient care providers commonly occur during the clinicalwork day.
All typical breast imaging equipment is available,including digital mammography with tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, andMRI. In addition to prone stereotacticbiopsy equipment, there is also add-on tomosynthesis-guided biopsy capability.Pre-operative wire and radioactive seed localization procedures are alsoperformed.
As part of the teaching mission of the medical school,breast imaging faculty interact with and instruct medical students, diagnosticradiology residents, and a breast imaging fellow within the section.
Both the Breast Section and the Department of Radiologyhave been recognized as an ACR Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence. We arethe only Radiology department in the state of Colorado to receive thisprestigious honor.
Duties include interpreting screening and diagnosticmammograms, breast MRI examinations, performance and interpretation of breast sonograms,and performance of all breast imaging-guided breast procedures(mammographically, stereotactically, ultrasound- and MRI-guided needlebiopsies; wire and radioactive seed localizations; and ductography). Breast imaging fellow, diagnostic radiology resident,and medical student education in both outpatient and inpatient settings are integralcomponents of the position.
Medical Degree or equivalent, Colorado MedicalLicense, ABR Certification, Fellowship Training.
Competency is required in the performance of breastimaging.
